Production Index Assessment of All Norwegian Wind Farms (NVE)

Wind and Site Analysis

Summary

Meventus has provided the annual report of wind speed and production index levels for all 40 operational Norwegian wind farms to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE)) starting with the 2018 production year.

The assessment methodology includes a modelling approach that is consistent for all parks, regardless of project size, and considers all relevant site-specific factors that influence the local wind regime and production such as terrain, roughness, directional wake losses and air density.

Depending on project size and complexity, a detailed CFD or linear flow model was initiated with a high quality hindcast meteorological reference data downscaled to each specific site using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. This data was further scaled to each project site using actual park-level production data measured at the grid feeding point. A model validation plot for one of the projects is provided below.
